Open Question: Programming ideas about sustainability?

Hello everyone, I am an RA at my university. I work in an apartment complex of almost 300 upperclassmen residents. We have a "theme week" (week of related programming) coming up and our "theme" is sustainability. So far someone is going to have a kitchen herb garden program and a bonfire (no real educational value, just fun). I am in charge of coming up with an idea, and I am drawing a blank. I'm trying to think of something people would like to attend that will be both fun and (somewhat) educational. Ideas? Thanks!

Open Question: what can i do with asafoetida ?

I have some asafoetida, its in a jar, and then each piece of asafoetida is in a tiny screw top vial. I wondered why it was packaged like this, until I unscrewed one of them. They STINK !!! :-( What sort of uses does this vile herb have? Any recipes I can use? Im sure it must be good for something, killing moths maybe?

Open Question: Dreamt someone was teaching me to make a salad?

they were telling me all the ingrediants i needed it was mostly just green lettuces/herbs like basil etc they told it was really important i remove the stems.

Open Question: How can I be 100% sober?

I have quit smoking and drinking... now I am quitting caffeine and table sugar; What else is below caffeine and sugar that I need to quit ingesting in order to be completely sober? Kind of like a purist, I want to be as healthy as I can possibly be, and this means not even taking headache medicines. However I am not against natural herbs that are beneficial. Anyone got anything to add as bad?

Open Question: What vegetables / plants do not require alot of sun?

I want to grow an herb and vegetable garden, but my yard is shaded due to trees! So they would get a few hours (maybe 3) of direct sun during the day. What are some good vegetable options? I am located on the east coast in Virginia. Thank you!

Im making a chicken soup that calls for Dill Weed. I want to use the fresh herb in the produce section, but the package just says Dill. Its the same, right ?? thanks :)

I have an English project in which we have to investigate medicinal and other uses of the plants and herbs Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet would have known. Our teacher told us that the potion is real but an hour of searching the web has returned no results.

Open Question: Bible readers, regardless of religion, does the bible mention...?

Does the bible ever mention milk or cheese? All I ever read about was how it was okay to eat all fruits and vegetables, herbs, and spices from Adam and Eve. Then I remember fish, mainly from Jesus' miracles. Goats and cows were eatten. Not really sure about lambs and chickens. I know pigs were forbidden. What about milk and cheese?
